Scholastic Committee Leader - Dr. Shirley Stewart

Dr. Shirley Stewart has been saved over 30 years and has many years experience as a Sunday School teacher. The Adult Women’s Sunday School class is designed to address women’s concerns as well as teach women about the WORD of God as indicated in Titus 2:3-5 and  Proverbs 31:10-31. Mother Alberta Morris and Dr. Shirley Stewart are the main teachers of the women’s class. They utilize the Church Alive Series for Adult Sunday School students by Word Aflame Publications. Moreover, they employ other resources to teach and discuss relevant topics that pertain to Christian women, such as book studies and other multimedia materials. Our class meets every Sunday from 9:30-10:20 AM. She is also actively involved with the GETC (Greater Emmanuel Temple) Missionary auxiliary, serving as its treasurer. Moreover, she is the advisor to the GETC Scholastic Committee.

Dr. Stewart received two degrees from the University of Delaware - a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She received her first Master's degree in special education from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Finally, she completed her doctorate in education in the areas of Innovation and Leadership from Wilmington University.

Dr. Stewart's secular job involves teaching fourth graders at Wilmington Manor Elementary School in New Castle, Delaware. Additionally, she  mentors new teachers and student teachers. Dr. Stewart has 30 years experience as an educator. She is delighted to be a part of the GETC Sunday School Department. She states "I love the WORD of God. The WORD provides me strength daily and gives me profound insight about my Lord. In my opinion, Sunday School is the foundation of the church; because without knowledge of the bible, it would be difficult to have a relationship with Jesus Christ."
